For its landmark 25th release, Pure Sonik Records presents: "Drums and Weapons Remixes," the follow-up to Alan Oldham's final album release as DJ T-1000, "Drums and Weapons."
London's legendary Paul Mac starts us off with "Drums and Weapons (Paul Mac's Rave Bass Mix)," a straight-ahead banger from the Stimulus man with a sinister buzzsaw Reese-style synth-line running through it.
James Johnson a.k.a. Plural is a new-school loop-master in the Jay Denham mould. His remix of DJ T-1000's "Cockblockin' Beats" is reminiscent of the best of the old Black Nation lock-groove bangers, but with a decidedly new-jack flavor all his own. Supported by the great Dave Clarke on his White Noise broadcast! Listen here:

Kuba Sojka, perhaps best known for his tracks on Matrix and Minimalsoul, goes deep. His remix of AO's "Head Down" is so Detroit purist, you'd think the man was from 7 Mile Road, not from Poland! Melodic strings and retro-futurist SH-101 sounds define this smooth take.
Also from London, the great Justin Berkovi (Trapez, ART, Djax-Up-Beats) checks in with a deep, tech-house permutation of AO's original "Drums and Weapons." Played on DJ T-1000's podcast for MEOKO (
www.meoko.net/mixes?view=episode&episode_id=37) late last fall to great effect!
